The path of totality crosses Luxor, Aswan, Lake Nasser, Hurghada and the Abu Simbel region; the longest totality, 6 minutes 23.2 seconds, is in Egypt’s New Valley Governorate. In Luxor totality lasts about 6 minutes 22 seconds around 1:05 p.m. local time, and Cairo sees a partial eclipse. - About August 14 – Mawlid al-Nabi (expected). The Prophet’s birthday is expected on Saturday, August 14, 2027; some calendars show August 15. Islamic dates depend on the moon sighting and can move by a day; Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta announces the official date.
- From August 15 – Wafaa El-Nil. The modern commemoration of the Nile flood is a two-week holiday starting August 15, according to Wikipedia; it is not listed as an official public holiday.
- Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing. Held at the Cairo Citadel in mid to late August (the 2026 edition ran August 15–24); 2027 dates are not yet confirmed.
